You could buy a regulated SDC ( shut down controller ) that puts out 12v and 5v.
This is good if you plan on powering a touch screen and usb hub.

Carnetix makes one that does this nicely.

Or you could use some relays to control things, cheaper but if done right works as well.

I'm using the Carnetix 2140 with my Acer Power 1000, which is an earlier version of the L100. Shutdown works well, but you need to be running the Psumoni application in the background, or foreground, or embedded, just needs to be running.

I am having problems at startup when its very cold. I believe when the hard drive spins up its shutting down the 2140. I haven't spent much time to troubleshoot it tho.
TruckPC - gutted, being used for test setup
BoatPC - off season - Inelmac screen needs serviced again!
BlazerPC - last vehicle PC I'll build

I've been thinking about reformating my drive and switching to XP Black. I'm mainly looking for improved boot times. XP, even with services stripped, etc. is slow to boot. What kind of performance are you seeing with it?

by saying xp i meant the black edition amd am2 cpu, not windows xp black that thing slows down big pcs much less a car pc, noob i am but that i wouldnt do

any info or diagrams on the relay setup i have 17 years in caraudio so the relays shouldnt be a problem

also what type of apps do i need to run in the back?
