well, yes & no. I mean, yes, you can rig it up to send a pulse, but no, it won't be so hot cause it has no way of knowing if the pc is already on or not & could cause more trouble than it's worth... & you'd have to figure out how to do it for startup & shutdown... once it gets out of sync then it'll be starting up when it should be shutting down . there are ways of adding relays & circiuts to make this more functional but still won't compare to a real controller

there are much better controllers available suited to the job for not too much more

so basically other than the controller not being in sync with the ACC of the car it could work right? anyways I am planning to put an external switch cause winfroze and mean windows freezes and needs a hard shutdown once in a while. What other cheap controller you have in mind?

that's a start. I would wonder what it is that your powering it with to begin with. most times a dc-dc power supply will include a startup shutdown controller built in. a dc-dc power supply is much better than an inverter, unless you already have the inverter & a very low budget.

most likely, a dc-dc power supply is going to be what you really should get, if budgets tight, save up for it & using a button for now might be a good idea too.

Well I am making several carpc's for my friends, so I am trying to make it as low budget as possible and a switch is not a big deal(at least for non- hi-tech people like us) Now I nee to find out the cheapest dc-dc to power the pc's according to specs the original PSU is 90W.
