    New release

Update of winapps and target code. I've used NavCoder to make sure I do not send messages onto IBus that I shouldn't and had to make a remap. Not backwards compatible!

    PowerConfig app ver 1.2
    BootDone ver 1.2
    Target code version 4.0

Just gotta post to say that bes51659 is the man.
I have been using my PowerControl in my BMW for a while now and he has been nothing short of amazing with helping me out.
If you have a CarPC in your BMW, then you MUST have this bit of hardware.

    .

I have been out of the bmw carpc ibus world since 2005 (when i started lawschool). Back then all it did was control your radio. Now, i have no idea what ibus-rr even means or what it is capable of.

My main problem in 2005 was power control. Seems like you guys have it all sorted out. Are there any good links summerizing what the ibus is now capbable of and what you guys are up to?

I suggest that you join "hacktheibus" first and read the spec there, and second you get navcoder sw to get the general idee of its possibilities. And yes, buy an ibus interface from resler!

"ibus rr" is "ibus with roadrunner". Not a version of IBus.

The item described in this thread is a unit to control on and off of all the stuff we put in out cars. Poweramps, dcdc converters, lcd panels, etc. It just uses IBus to get info about gearchanges, unlocking of car, button presses, etc. And yes, speed for the dead reckoning in the GPS. Just to save input wireing. Inputs for wiring is there too. Currently I am working on a pcb without the gps, but with some other extra features.

    Google on :-)

I have just completed and sent my 6'th module, mkIII version. (my own, Australia, Russia, USA, Denmark, Germany)
I know that it takes a long time to get system running, and getting the GPS receiver is probably something done early on in a car PC project, but please add your experience with the module in this thread when you have it working. If there is ever an MKIV that would be great!

    Don't worry :-)

It is not the same thing. The item in that thread will control relays when you press buttons (or other events) in the car.

This item has a statemachine for controling your hw in a more intelligent way. (and it has an optional GPS) Unfortunately it is not so easy to explain as this logic is complicated. You can download the configuration app and try it in demo. http://web.comhem.se/mulle5/DashPowe...ig_0_1_0_6.zip

    - It replaces the need for an intelligent power supply, as I have found that they are not so intelligent, and it has support for standbye and hibernation.
    - It will turn on the LCD when it is supposed to be on, and not during boot or shutdown.
    - It will enable your sound system when PC is up and running and disable it prior to shutdown to avoid speaker bumps.
    - It will control rearview camera.
    - With GPS it will get speed and direction message from ibus and together with a gyro generate input signal to (onboard) Trimble GPS module with dead reckoning.

What I have aimed for is a system that will work as a factory system. If someone else uses the car they will not need a manual with tips and tricks. It will just work as expected with one single button. On-Off, and then it is up to your skin :-)
