p2140 does not start up correctly

Are u jumpering the program jumper inside the psu?

what do u mean? heres what i did..i took apart the psu..then i moved the jumper to the program position..then plugged in my usb cable to my laptop..then i uploaded the hex key updated to 1.8.3 and pressed okay..then i moved th e jumper back to off/regular..pressed reset..then it wouldnt read the usb cable..i unplugged it and plugged it back in..and it says v1.0..but i have psumoni v1.8.3...so i dont know whats my problem. when i first got it..i upgraded to the 1.8.3 firmware with no problems..and now it wont upgrade..this really sucks..i hate how i have to turn it on and off and back on again just to get it to work

do u still have battery power to the psu when youre programming

no. i disconnect the psu from any power supply. so the only thing plugged in, or making it run is the usb. im pretty sure im doing this right, because i did this before when i first got it. its just that now it doesnt want to upgrade..this really sucks. its a pain in the butt to keep turning it off and on just to get it to turn on

well i start up my car and it starts the computer..then i let the psu shut down by itself..then i turn off my car...turn back on my car turning on the comp..then let it shut down again..then turn off my car, and turn it back on again...and when i let it shut down..its when it shuts down by itself. goes to the windows start up screen then everythings off. power to the psu, pc, screen, amp, etc.

Sounds like the P2140 is having some firmware issues.

Out of curiosity, where do you ground the unit (straight back to the battery or the chassis)?

yea..thats what i kind of thought. i dont know why its not upgrading the firmware though. thats my main problem. i grounded it to the chassis. the same place its always been..even before when it worked.

I'm not sure if your P2140 is still grounded to the chassis while you're updating the firmware, but if it is, unbolt it and don't ground it to anything or have any power applied to it.

Then try the firmware update. See how that goes. If it still doesn't work, then return it for repair.
