    Recommended Quick Release Connector

I'm looking for a quick release connector which I can use to hook up my M2-ATX to the wiring in my car. However, there doesn't seem to be much out there for 8AWG. Should I run the 8 or lower gage to a distribution block (fused?) and then use a higher gage wire from it to the PC?

Also, does anybody have any input on what style of interconnect I should use? I've looked at:

    standard style molex
    Neutrik SpeakOn
    Neutrik PowerCon
    XLR

Any input would be appreciated. Thanks so much.

I used an additional in line fuse holder on my 8awg line to my pc to act as my "quick release". Like this.

Thats a pretty cool fix. However I was hoping for an all in one fix instead of 3 different connections. Still may go your though route as it is simple and cheap. Thanks for the help.

Yeah for that size cable I saw that as the easiest and cheapest fix. Good luck w/ whatever you do. later...

You could definitely connect your 8AWG to a smaller gauge such as 12 or 14 and use a molex or something. Your M2 is at max going to pull no more than 15A. 8AWG is good for 50 (so is a bit overkill). Not that I should speak because I'm running 10AWG which can handle a good 30 for the same PSU.

So that's one option - this way you have plenty of the same connector to try to power the machine elsewhere.

Another option is what I used, from delcity.com: http://www.delcity.net/delcity/servl...id=9108&page=1

The site has decent prices and good stuff - the only downside is that its a distributor, so they have a $25 minimum order.

    Good luck!

CarPC v2.5 up and running - all hardware installed, skin configured, and iG tweaked like crazy. Now for OBD-II, and voice control, and camera plugin, and... :nutz: - it never ends!

    These might be usable:

The Remote Control folks use deans connectors for battery connections, if you used a smaller (more appropriate) size wire these would do the job:
