Ok, since I used to dabble in the R/C world, and the OP has no idea (or even a clue) that this forum is dedicated to putting a computer in a 1:1 Ratio car, and because I had fun reading this;

@Ausi319 - You have a team associated RC18t, there are many different companies that provide batteries for it that will have a higher capacity than what comes with it. There's a company that specializes in 1/18th scale and smaller cars, and they have plenty of hop-ups to choose from. Your local hobby shop will have some good stuff too, and you won't even have to wait for it to be shipped to you.

The best thing you can do to get a longer runtime, would be to get a pack with a lot higher capacity (mAh rating) something around 2500mAh or so would almost double your run-time. There's also li-po batteries to be purchased, but are a little more dangerous if you don't have the right charger. (Think fire, and flames, which could make steam from water and turn a steam turbine, but that's another story)

There is nothing you can install on that car that will allow it to charge the batteries while it is running. Energy doesn't come from nowhere, it's transferred, if you can create energy, then you have solved the world crisis.

If the technology existed, it would exist already. If it did exist it would be such secretive technology, you might not even know it existed. If you didn't know it exists, you wouldn't even know if your car was already equipped with this type of technology, so maybe you already have a perpetual motion car. But since the battery manufacturers want to make money, they've disabled this feature, and force you into buying expensive batteries. It's all a big conspiracy to promote the big wallets of the fat cats that run the battery plants.

Bottom line: get a higher capacity battery (or a few).

what if i used a solar panel or something else to run the motor? would that work then?

Oddly; most of the time if you ask a question over and over hoping for the answer you want, after hearing one that dissapoints you, or that you don't understand, your confusion or dissapointment will not end.

Time for someone go study some of the technology they're asking about. I'm done feeding this one.

see how many panels there are? you want to achieve this kind of result with a 2x3 panel. NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. photovoltaic cells are not that efficient per sq. in.
