    Eee pc

I just git the Asus eee pc 1000H It seems to run on 12 volt.

I have the CNX-P1900 The lowest the primary output jumper can be set to is 18V will this kill the PC or can the power supply run at a lower voltage with 18V on this setting being the max.

if it says it needs 12v then it needs 12v. trying to power it with a 18v supply will damage it.

no, the P1900's primary output cannot run at a lower voltage. (you should have bought the P2140 instead).

what is the amperage rating on the AC power brick? the P1900's secondary output can provide 1.3A@12v. if you don't use the laptop's battery then you may be able to power it from the secondary output (it will not draw as much power if it doesn't have to charge a battery). I would check how much current the laptop draws (both with and without the battery) before attempting to power it from the 12v secondary output.

There was no P2140 Back when I bought the power supply and I am already using the second rail to power a monitor.

Is there a device to lower the voltage from the p1900 before it hits the PC like a car adapter or something like that?

you could buy (or build) a 12v regulator for the laptop and run it independent of the P1900.

or you could sell the P1900 and buy the P2140. if you want something cheaper you could buy an M2-ATX and use that to power and control everything. its not designed as a laptop PSU but it can easily be used as one (the reason I mention it as an option is because its only $75 and has its own SSC.)
