    as another option, the best bang for your buck may be your local Walmart. They carry the variable output PowerLine 0900-21, 2Amp, Car Cord Adapter. For the same price of $15.00, the newer model has a USB connector power socket as well as variable out.

    I was having a very similar problem and also decided to use a cigarette charger. Works good: High Current USB
