Can Carnetix turn your laptop on/off?

Can Carnetix turn your laptop on/off? I'm not quite sure what it means in the instructions, so is a second device necessary, such as this:

the P1900 and P2140 Carnetix units have an onboard relay that shorts the power button leads (same way that webmaster's auto power-on module works).

there is no need for a second device

Great! Thanks for the quick response. So no soldering is needed to my power switch now correct, because I just need to plug my laptop to the carnetix?

YES... soldering the power switch leads IS still required.

the Carnetix units have 2 wires from the "ACPI relay". those 2 wires are the switch contacts of the relay. you need to connect/solder those wires to the power button leads.

if a docking station is available for your model laptop and has a power button, then it may be easier to solder that switch instead
