Low Voltage on 5VSB (Opus 320)

Recently bought an opus 320W to keep up with my new CPU. I am having severe USB issues..It all points to a power problem with intermittent results. I notcied the monitoring software for my Jetway MB states the 5VSB rail is only at 4.90 and never goes above that.. Is this a most likely cause of my USB issues?

4.9 volts is extremely close to 5.0. It's 2% away from being perfect. Devices can take a bit of a varying in voltage. What's good is that it is constant and doesn't fluctuate.

What exactly are your problems? They could be a result of cable length, a bad cable, or if you have a USB hub, it splitting the power too far.

No hub... I have 8 USB 2.0 in the rear I/O panel. I have only 5 devices hooked up. GPS, Touchscreen, USB Infrared receiver, A usually empty extended cable to the front of my car, and a USB cable for my cell phone that is usually not connected. I had a wireless card that used 2 usb ports as well but when I disconnected this it seemed to reduce the problems slightly. The usb devices just act weird. One time the car starts they all work. The next time the IR receiver is slow to respond, the GPS won't lock or barely does, and connecting to network with my phone is selective...It would seem if one device works like it should then the others don't or only work half way. The board is a Jetway JNC62K. It has most up to date drivers. I run XP Pro with SP3. I have been beating my head for two months. The regular 5v rail consistency has 5.04-5.08 as well so I don't get it...Now, the amps could be another story...I don't know what the system would be drawing. I power the MB, the USB devices, the FX-62 dual core and my Lilliput 7" screen. Thanks for the response and in advance for any ideas.

Well, this is definitely a little bit on the strange side. I definitely don't want to rule out power yet. A good test would be if you have a powered USB hub, you could run a regular AC extension cord to it from your house while testing so you can use the AC adapter it came with and plug all the devices into it and see if they work fine like that. If they work fine on the hub, then power is the problem.

I appreciate the help...I do have a 12v powered up that has an AC adapter...I'll give that a try first.

    Thanks

No luck with the powered hub. I see the opus only provides 1.5A on the 5vsb rail, and 15A on the reg 5v rail. Is it possible my USB devices on the MB are being powered off the 5vsb rail and do not have enough Amps?

If the powered hub didn't work, then the problem isn't power, assuming the powered hub is working properly.

By putting all the USB devices on an external powered hub, the computer was no longer powering them, the hub was. If they don't work on the hub, the issue must be somewhere else... Are you sure the hub was getting power from something other than the computer?

I have a 7 port Powered USB hub. It accepts typical 110V from the wall and outputs 5V to the hub..
