Well, I've already bought the M2, as is apparent from my posts in this thread, and all the threads I'd read on here before buying it were positive comments. Since then, I've read some problems/complaints, but what I'm experiencing sounds like it's more likely a problem with the battery power being interrupted briefly when turning the key from ACC to OFF.

Well, scratch that... The voltage on the constant power from the battery is staying constant, but the M2 isn't switching properly. Something else I just found out now because I tried for the first time is that if I have it set to ACC and then crank the car, it restarts, as well. Unfortunately, I don't have room for the Opus board where I have my computer mounted. I'll try looking into other options, though. If need be, I can probably just wire something up with a power relay and a PIC processor to do the startup/shutdown and just use the M2 as a dumb DC-DC PSU.

It restarts itself because the crank of the engine is stealing all the power from it. From what I've researched, most power supplies cannot withstand an engine crank however there are a few that can. In the case that you have one which cannot survive a crank, your option is to create a tank circuit.

I would look at how you have it connected first and at the electrical (battery & charging system), i have had my m2 running for years now running all my peripherals without any problem.

    Double check your jumpers...
None of this is going to fix your sound problem either.

@ Wungun: Are there any jumpers other than the shutdown timing jumper that I'm just missing? I've tried several settings of that jumper, and while it does give DIFFERENT results, it doesn't ever give the RIGHT results. Regardless of the jumper setting, it cuts power to the computer immediately for a split second (enough to shut off the computer and cause the LCD to blink off) when ACC goes off (no change when going from engine on to ACC setting with the key, though, as it should be). I currently have it set to 5sec/1min so it won't continue giving power for a long time after I exit the car, but if I have it set to a higher setting, it will typically cut off immediately, and then after off-delay time, it will turn back on until hard-off cuts it back off. If I try using the power button while the car is running, I can turn on and off just fine, and once it is on, the computer works fine.

Sorry to OP if I'm derailing your thread, but hopefully solutions to either of our problems will help the other.

Im not running an AC-DC power supply in my car. I have this in my appartment.

I have everything i could think of to try and diagnose the problem. I belive it is a problem with the M2/M4 not adhearing to the ATX spec or somthing. I was looking around and found this guy having troble with his M4 and a xonar D2

and then looking at the change log makes me worried

you shouldnt change a hardware product and still call it the same thing. it might be that one of thoses changes in the last year or so that i bought it fixes the problem i am having.

I have tried adding in a diode to my IGN line to try and see if that would effect anything. Tried wiring both 12+ and IGN to 12+ and when i turn my car off it still restarts. So anyother ideas would be appreciated.

Also was looking at the Opus and was wondering why the 320 they are selling in the store is 230 and the 360 they are selling at opussolutions is only 188? is the 320 that much better or they just marked up the price that much.

Probably just markup. That's a common thing for a retail business to do.

I'm really only posting here to subscribe to this thread, I'm interested to see the outcome.

Markup on a 40 watt less power supply.
