Car Computer Tips

I'm planning on installing a car computer in my car, i'll be using a home computer then putting the components into a case. I'm just wondering how to power the computer without using a invertor and using a 7inch screen to view the computer screen.

Have you got any tips for making a computer for a car?

Any help would be greatly apprieciated.
