    hook up laptop to capacitor?

I have a capacitor (not that one, but close enough) Any way I can hook up my laptop to that? or should I buy and inverter and just plug it into the cigarrete socket? Anyone know how many watts inverter I would need? I have a nissan 350z and an Averatec 2500 series. I'm still looking for an easy power on solution for my laptop if anyone has any ideas, i just dont want to solder stuff onto my laptop, Im not good at soldering.

I've been searching for capacitor but nothing came up.

ok, could you hook it up to your laptop?,sure, I guess you could, but now the real question, why? what is it that you think it's going to do for you?

1 - Get a DC-DC PSU instead of an inverter if at all possible.
2 - That capacitor (or one like it) isn't going to do a darn thing for your PC. As turbocad asked, "What do you think it will accomplish?"

I suggest you start by reading the FAQs: http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/advfaq.php
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
    How about the Wiki?

From what I gather by reading your post firexbomber, you must feel that a capacitor stores energy in the same way as a battery? Sort of an on demand power solution? That is not the case. As has been pointed out above, a capacitor is merely nothing more then a short capacitance burst of energy that is used to replenish a falling voltage margin if used accurately. It can also be used as a filter if used in different ways.

What you need to do is look on your laptops AC-DC and see what it's wattage consumption is. Add to that about 10-15% to allow for spiking/peak demand pull. That should get you in the ballpark as to what you need as far as a DC-DC inverter. I realized quickly that just one for my laptop wouldn't be strong enough as I wanted to power more and more stuff. Think logically about what you want to power first and be sure that you don't need it for anything else before you purchase one. That way you have power in spare.

You could probably find a DC power adapter for your laptop, as has already been stated. This could potentially either be plugged into a cigarette lighter/12V outlet or hard wired to the electrical system. This would be much better than an inverter. What brand and model laptop is it?
