    ZOTAC IONITX-C-U board + m4-atx?

Just received my ZOTAC IONITX-C-U motherboard and I didn't realized it doesn't have a normal motherboard power connector. All it has is a DC jack with an external AC/DC wall adapter.

Could I somehow use a little DC plug from radio shack and wire it to the m4-atx? If so, how can I do this safely so as to protect the rest of the computer? (fuses, filters, etc)

Way to pay attention to specifications before purchasing hardware.

You can power the board from the M4. You have to pull 12v power from a HDD connector or the 4-pin P4 connector for the motherboard.
You also have to fool the M4 into thinking that it is powered on by shorting out pins 13 & 14 on the ATX connector.
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?

I don't think its easy to boost it up to 19V at that sort of current rating.
Better off selling the m4 and get yourself a carnetix.

I don't understand... there's a similar model zotac with a normal motherboard power connector. Wouldn't that one have to be 12V to be standard and work with normal PC power supplies? Why would they make this one 19V? *confused*

must be some power/voltage constraint when they engineer it, otherwise its probably for grabbing more money from proprietary power adapters.

Can't answer as to why. My best guess is to market it to OEMs for EEE-style mini PCs.

If the board takes 19v, then sell the M4 and get a Carnetix. And learn from this little encounter.
