Question for a Serener GS-L01 case

    Hello all,

I have an old Serener GS-L01 case that has a 120 watt power supply. Here is a link to the product.

    http://www.orbitmicro.com/global/gs-....html?ref=base

I plan on using a Zotac D-E, which should work with the case (may need to get a new heat sink if height is a problem). I am wondering if anyone has this case and if the power supply acts like the more modern ones I see around here (like with timers to shutdown). I haven't been able to find much info on the power supply online.

    Thanks

The PSU would work with your Zotac board you intend to use.
However, the PSU does not have the advanced features that are desirable for a vehicle install, namely a startup/shutdown controller.
The PSU also requires 19v input, which you're not going to get from your vehicle's electrical system.
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
    How about the Wiki?

Under normal circumstances, a signature would go here.

    I see, many thanks DarquePervert.

Looks like I'm going with a M2-ATX, unless if you suggest something else. I will be running a bunch of USB devices, but I think it is powerful enough.

Yep, the M2-ATX, at 160W would be more than capable of running that system.

I have had, for the past 2 years a M2-ATX powering a little Industrial Project of mine, with a Commell LV-677, 2.13gig CPU, 7200rpm drive et al. Did so without a hickup.

Nice cases, those Sereners, I have a GS-L05 that I'm converting to a fully passive-cooled setup, with custom heatpipes from Coolermaster Netherlands store, and my other little setup, my Commell LS-373.

I will have a new, much beefier top to allow cooling both the NB and CPU passively, as I simply cannot justify getting a new GS-L10

keep us posted though, interesting project in the making here!

So an update on my project:

I decided to buy an M350 case from mini box because of the design, the air flow, mounting options and the ability to have two hard drives is really nice. The serener has little to no ventilation, one hard drive mount and no external USB.

The case came in yesterday, but I am wondering where do people mount there power supplies? Another look on the web and I saw that the Pico is designed for this case, but I am sure I saw that people use the M2-ATX power supply. I am leaning towards the M2-ATX as I have read mixed things about the Pico, but I also read about a 5 second delay with the M2-ATX which kinda turns me away from it. Does the Pico that is designed for vehicle use have such a delay? I am in total power supply confusion!

My motherboard comes in today (Zotac IONITX D-U), props to new egg, 3 day shipping and I ordered it yesterday!
