Hi, I'm planning my first car PC and I was hoping to build the system around some spare computer parts that I have laying around. I have everything pretty much laid out except the power supply. I am planning on using a spare AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ I found but i cant figure out which version I have which I need to know to find its power consumption which will help me decide on a power supply. There are 3 different power ratings for this cpu (35W, 65W, and 89W) that I know of. I threw out the box and all documentation long ago, so all I have to go off of is whats on the chip itself. It has:
AMD ©2005
AMD Athlon™ 64 X2
AD03800IAA5CU
LFCBF 0650RPEW
Q1000542L60691
Any and all help greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Wow. I didnt even think about looking on the AMD site.

Now from what I read on the FAQ page, I need to pick a PSU with a 12V rail that will supply at least 4.4A right?
you processor isn't the only thing drawing current, so it depends on what else you have installed, gps, ext hd, ...etc
I was looking at the picoPSU-80-WI-32 right now.
I am planning on installing:
GlobalSat BU-353 SiRF III USB GPS receiver
cirago BTA-3210 USB Micro Bluetooth
Probably a 1 gig stick of DDR2 Memory
A 200 GB IDE Hard Drive and a LITE-ON DL-8ATS slot load DVD Player connected to USB via a Rosewill RCW-618 USB to IDE/SATA Adapter
and a Lilliput EBY701
All connected to a ZOTAC GF8200-C-E Mobo
do you think this will be too much power draw for that PSU?
if thats a 80watt psu like suggested in the title (too lazy to search). Its definitely not going to be enough.
that setup would require m2atx, dsatx, opus120/150/320... or any similar spec.
yeah thats what i figured after thinking about it. I bought the M2-ATX PSU. Thanks for the help.
