    need a simple regulator circuit

    i need something that will give me 6v dc at 2000ma <i forget what that converts to in real amps> used to know it from my days in r/c racing

    ps its for a digi cam to run it off either a small gel cel or a 7.2 volt r/c battery pack

    oh yeah radio shack parts would be great so i can make it asap

    If the voltage of the cel stays above ~7V, then you could use a LM1084 linear regulator. This one keeps working down to an input/output difference of about 0.9V at 2Amps.

    An alternative solution - if the input voltage and output current are fairly stable - is to use two series diodes, which gives depending on the type a voltage drop between 1 and 2V. But you only want this if the 6V is not too critical.

    well since the camera is made to run off 4 aa batterys at 1.5 volts a piece for combined 6volts at 2000ma i am assuming thats its not too picky about stable voltage as long as its not over 6 volts

    what else would i need for the reg circuit ? or just the reg it self?

    Did the cam come with an AC-DC adaptor?
    If so, you might not need extra circuitry.
    Most digital gear comes with a built-in regulator and an unregulated dc adaptor, its output fluctuates with the load requirements.

    has the spot for the ac-dc adapter being as its a dam hp cam there is just enough there to get it to work and nothing else <they even want you to pay for the extra drivers for xp >

    anyways i think the ac adapter just taps into the internal battery circut and get regulated from there just a guess since the adapter supplies the same voltage as the 4 aa's that it uses

    so my plan of action is take one of my olde r/c stick battery packs cut them down from 6 or 7 cell to a 5 cell pack at 1.2 volts per cell gives me 6 volts and each cell can supply around 1300 ma
    a configuration like that gives me about a 20 min run time with high amperage dual motors in my trucks so it dhould give me a reallly long time for the camera
