my guess would be no considering 90% of the people cant get the recommended brainstem to work with the DSATX. I have the recommended one and a hacked together one i found on this page and neither work unless the device thats reading the data from the brainstem is separate from your actual car PC.
sonic, i thought according to an old thread i found
http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/powe...ity-issue.html
that if you supply power from a different source than J2, it will work OK..
the USB one i think only has a FTDI chip in addition which is really a serial ---> usb chip much like prolific
ok just coming back to say:
bought the USB brainstem and it works perfectly, starting, hibernating...everything..
i have it connected to the same pc the dsatx is connected to.. it really works very nice
what's your dsatx firmware?
it used to be 108, now it is 114...why? r u having issues?
Yes, I'm on 113 or 114 I think, I have to use another computer with it. I don't have the usb cable, I have the original brainstem and a custom made usb cable that worked better, but not in all situations.
I have yet to try powering it on externally, I'm just being lazy. I was just curious if there was a newer update. I haven't heard from Jeff from what it feels like to years. I wonder if the DSATX is still in production?
he replied to a PM yesterday in a few hours :)
i got the brainstem from Linitx.co.uk it was on sale :D

by the way i am not powering it externally..
Thanks good to know, thanks for the info.
BTW, IIRC the problem is not the computer hibernating, is the DSATX going into deep freeze/sleep (say, batt below x level) and not coming back with IGN.
