    which psu do you recommend?

This is my first carpc and from what im reading, i want an intelligent psu so that when i shut the car off, the computer turns off and when i turn it on, the computer boots up. now for specs i have 1gb ram, amd 3400+ cpu, a video card, and a a8v-xe motherboard, and a patriot 32gb ssd. will have a bunch of usb devices as well. any help will be greatly appreciated!

There's a lot of good information in there, but the formatting sucks balls.
You really should understand why you choose the PSU you choose. It will help you understand your system that much better, which will be invaluable when there is a problem and you need to troubleshoot.
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
    How about the Wiki?

I recommend the M4...I have one and it more than does the job(love this PSU), and has plenty of power for all your hardware devices!!! This was also my first install and fabrication project...check my worklog!!!

Yeah, I dunno. I had issues with mine a couple years back, so I got an opus. But I've seen many of late who have gotten them for their set-ups without issue. Perhaps they're all shipping with the newer revised firmware now, I know that was the usual remedy before.

I also use a OPUS, a OPUS 320 to be exact. OPUS is the Cadilac of PSUs. I have never had an issue with them and the customer support from OPUS Solutions is very fast. I plan on buying the OPUS 360 for my other PC because I am so happy with OPUS.

i thought the store here was carrying a few of the opus brand now, but the 360 was brand new when I needed the power for mine, so it wasn't carried yet. I think even the 320 would be major overkill for what you describe, but it's always better to have too large a power source than too little.

Edit: yep, right here on the mp3car store.

Wayne613, your so silly.... The 320 is discontinued. Basically the 360 replaced it. Just buy it direct from http://opussolutions.com.

Actually, I didn't-a know that.. And now that I look, that's on backorder in the mp3car store. Whoops. Yeah, I just bought mine direct from there as well, don't see any of the opus ones for sale currently here. Bummer.
