Power switch wired to the motherboard's power switch header?
So I just got the picopsu 120 watt model in the mail today. Plug it into a 12V power supply and nothing. Compter boots perfectly on standard computer power supply.
The little green light comes on but nothing
Its an ASrock A330ION motherboard. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...94&Tpk=a330ion
WTF! This is the last piece thats holding back my carputer completion!
huh?
I can change absolutely nothing except swap my desktop PC power supply 20 pin for the picopsu 20 pin and it work just fine with the desktop PC PS..
The only thing I can think of is maybe my 12V source doesnt have enough amperage. You need a 10A source to drive the picopsu to 120watts, and probably at least 5 amps to run the board.
Does anyone know what amperage the power brick needs to be as my laptop style bricks might not be enough.
In order to give the PicoPSU enough amperage to output the full 120W, you'll need a power brick that can supply 10A at 12V. Still, you should probably be able to get the computer to boot with a 5A brick (although you could run the risk of damaging the brick).
Also, do you have a power switch connected to the motherboard on/off pin headers? I think this is what DarquePervert was referring to. Your desktop you need to change nothing because the power switch is still wired to the motherboard. With the Mini ITX board, you need to make sure there's a way to close this circuit momentarily to initiate startup and shutdown.

ahh, i see the confusion, the i am running the desktop PS on the mini-itx board. all i am doin is swapping for the picopsu and a brick.
it might be an amperage problem.
If you have a spare 12V vehicle battery lying around, you could use this as a temporary PSU.
Do you have a bunch of accessories plugged into your USB ports or several 3.5" HDs sucking power?

ya thats what i'm gonna try when i get home.
but no usb accessories. only a SSD. thats 1st thing i tried, unplugging everything.
more i think about it, its prolly the amperage and my thread was prematurejust anxious LOL
