Best one to go with as a secondary automotive PSU/aux powering

I've recently tried to hook up a second USB hub, and failed with my OPUS 360. I get the dreaded 2 flash (can not start) from my opus with the new 3amp sucking 7 port hub hooked up. Over-taxing that rail...So...

I need a secondary PSU, either a slaved full on one, or PoL(Point of Load) one(s). I'm leaning to just going with 2 Opus PoL power supplies, as this looks to be closer to what I have in mind and fairly cheap @ around $75 for 2 complete with cases and heat-sinks. But any other experiences or recommendations would be welcome.

i searched high and low for a 4 amp 5v dc-dc psu and couldn't find anything reasonably priced. I decided to just mod a m1-atx that i had laying around. it has 4 amps on the 5v dc rail as well as 12v power (plus it survives cranking...)

the m2-atx will most likely have more power available... not sure if it son the 5v rail though, may be a better choice

I read about this in a European Car PC forum.
They just use an off the counter powered usb hub and a Dimension Engineering DE-SWADJ3, 25W Adjustable Switching Regulator
    Input Voltage: 3V to 30V, Output Voltage: 3V to 13V,Output Amp: 3A (Not over 25W), 96% efficiency
    They are small, see http://www.robotshop.com/dimension-e...regulator.html

Niiiice. See, this is why I asked. Thought someone might have something better for the same price or better going. This fits that. A 12v output one, and that 5v output one you list will do nicely, and be $20 cheaper.

Not seeing a remote line, looking through the documentation here...So I assume I'd need to go with a relay method, yes?

So, yes then. Don't think my SJB(smart junction box) for my mustang would appreciate 50+watts on any of those switched lines.

Not a big deal, and I'd like to go this route anyhow, truly slaving it to the current Opus 360, just using the existing 12v remote line from the opus I have already run back there to switch the relay to another direct to battery feed for those jamco units for the trunk section. 1 simple 12v, 20A automotive relay for both should do it and be major overkill(translates to 240watt), so it's adding a whooping $3 to the cost.

Spank you, spank you very much. And everyone else as well of course! Unless a better solution is mentioned, this looks like the way to go for me. Just wouldn't get enough from one of the standard automotive PSUs(m2, etc), certainly not for the money.

Going with the 50watt 5v(10amp) version. For $32, seems like a good deal, enough to do 3 usb hubs, assuming no RFI downside or the like.

Kinda wanted to kill the 12v rail draw I had going back there as well, but I think for now just taking the extra bit of the 5v rail should do as I only have 1 small draw on the 12v. And a relay will only add like 20mA.
