Angry When reverse is engaged, front lights turn on???

    Hi everyone,

I just recently decided to take on the task of putting a screen and car computer into my 2005 Subaru Legacy. When installing the backup camera an odd thing happened. I got the camera all powered and wired up and it was showing beautifully on my screen, but the reverse lights no longer worked... the brake lights and the turn signals were still working also. I checked the fuse and it looked great, the bulbs on both sides were fine. I does not make sense to me because we didn't tamper with the power supply to these lights... The only modification we did was power the camera from one of the accessory fuses below the steering wheel.

To top it all off later that night I went out to turn my car on and the front lights didn't work. To my amazement when I put it in reverse the Front lights turned on and still no rear view lights. I now have no idea what has happened and would love some help with this problem.

    Thanks guys

what happens when you revert the car to the stock wiring-- does it go back? i think you might have tapped into the wrong power location.

Yes we put all of the stock wires back together and still both the front and back lights will not work. The daytime lights will sit on but when I try to turn on the regular lights or brights, neither of them work.

i see there is a Subaru Legacy forum-- as much as i would like to help, i own a mitsubishi, so really don't know where to look.. the forum might have better info on your particular model..

last time i did something like that, it required going through the fuse box with a ohm meter checking every single fuse.
