Talking really happy with my inverter

    Hey Guys,

Just posting to say the Power Tech 400W modified sine wave inverter is a ripper ! I got it from jaycar electronics for $199. It is powering a P111 850, 1gb ram, dvd, cdr, 3.5" 80GB HD, GPS, and sound blaster live. Fires up first time every time. I have a false floor in my boot so all my hardware is hidden, don't want to risk getting anything knocked off after all my hard work. I will post pics soon. Will be interested in what you guys think.

There is no engine noise what so ever in my audio signal either. I didn't do anything special either, just made sure all my conections made good contact.

    Anyway thats my 2c

    Not trying to flame, but...

Is it special? Modified sine wave is what all the commodity invertors put out. True Sine Wave is the better type.

Unless there's something about it I don't know, $199 for 400W is very expensive. I paid $90 for 700W, fan cooled, modified sine wave invertor that came with 15' of hookup wire.

15-20c/W is a rule of thumb.

Well Im from Australia so thats $199 AU dollars. Pure sine are double that price for something around the 300w mark. I would assume that some inverters are better than some in build and component quality, not say that yours isnt.

Just wanted to tell me fellow Aussies that this inverter works great if they didn't want the hassle and cost of a DC-DC converter.

hehe I paid $35 for my 175watt modified sine wave inverter at Wal-Mart. I use it to power my protable harddrive not the PC. I have a DC-DC for that.
