no.. that would not work. take it to like radio shack. They will match the plug. Also you want to make sure to get a dc adaptor that doesn't supply too many amps. WHen i did that for mine I used a 500ml amp adaptor
So I just got a Pyramid MV7SC 7" TFT LCD Color Monitor for my b-day from my g/f and I wanted to try it out. It's for my car, but I wanted to try it out now. It says for power source it needs a DC12V+/-10% source. I'm wondering (since I'm kind of a n00b to this), if I can just get a DC12V plugin and connect the wires and plug it in? I have a lot of old DC cd-player adapters, would they work the best?

Radio Shack sucks. If you need to buy a new PS, please get it somewhere else. Support your local independent business owners.
You will need a PS that supplies at least as much power as you need. Don't worry about too much, the monitor will only use what it needs. 500 mA is probably more than enough. If you have a 12 VDC @ 500 mA PS already, then your set.
Make sure you have the polarity right.
I have that same LCD. Im getting a Xenarc though, I cant really see the text on it very well. The color isnt that great either and you have to see it almost head on to see it in the right colors. I hate to say, but its a very cheaply made LCD. I used a molex connector and powered it from my powersupply using the 12V/GND. Works great that way.

heres a wild idea. Try getting a female pwoer supply port (those white things) and connect your screen as such.
yellow wire - positive
black (adjacent) - negative.
Mine needs to be updated.
WHOO, got the LCD working fine on the computer now too. Just took a Voodoo3 to do it. So I guess that's what I'll be using instead of a Radeon 7500.

Text is pretty crappy, kind of hard to see too, even when it's all the way up. I was looking for a cheap solution though and that's what ya get. Anyway it works for me.Originally posted by Custommx3
