Hey you guys
Dont really post here much, but im building a pc for my 2nd car (toyota Mr2)
I've got a mini-itx
COMMELL LV-672 Pentium 4, 3.4Ghz, with 1 GB Ram and a 2.5" hdd,
Now i installed windows 7 using my home test psu and all worked fine, but when i put the board in the car with a 160 watt m2-atx psu, the pc boots, start installs the other usb devices that are already in the car, reboots then wont boot properly again, just starts booting then restarts, take it inside and all boots fine.
Now could this either be the psu in the car doesnt have enough wattage to power it or its over heating? The cpu temp in the bios shows about 104 degrees F.
Ive located the pc in the cubby box behind the seat with a fan sucking out the hot air too.
I also have a via 600mhz mini itx board but this works fine but is very very very very slow. I'd like to use centrafuse 3 or 4 but the run really slow, centrafuse 2 works ok though but dont like the look of it.
And anyone suggest a psu that would be better. In my other car i have a 3ghz p4 on a micro atx board with a 210 watt psu and that works fine too

Nope. Not enough power from the M2.
That P4 CPU is a power hungry beast and is probably drawing more power than the 12v rail of the M2 can provide.
There are multiple articles on how to see if your PSU will work.
You need to look up the max TDP rating for your specific CPU and compare that to the 12v output on your PSU and any others you're considering.

Though that might be the case, annoyingly the lin itx website that i got it from says that the m2 is good for the p4Do you think the m4 atx will have enough juice?

They're painting w/ very broad strokes, as there are dozens of variants of P4 CPUs with different levels of power draw.
As far as whether an M4 would work, I think you're better served by following my instructions above and finding out for yourself.
