If I was to add this This 110w DC-DC PSU and this Car Laptop adaptor together, would it work as a regulated DC-DC supply setup?
I've seen the generic Laptop car cords elsewhere for less money, but I knew Maplin had a picture.

Are you trying to use this for a laptop ? or a desktop ?
If your goal is laptop - All you need is the car laptop adapter. That unit has a regulator built in.
A note of caution though - I have one of these from radio shack, and they just aren't designed for full time use. I would crack open the adapter and add a fan (mine gets blazing hot)
It looks like it might work but I dont think it would work very well. Like gizmomkr said it may get hot. You may have problems with the car adapter not being providing enough power for the PSU on start-up. But over all isnt paying for both of those about the same price as a Opus power supply. It looks to me like you should just spend a little more and go for the one we all know works.

problem with Opus is getting hold of the thing. Being in the UK means everything has to be imported in.
Was looking at a means of putting together maybe that board, and if I ebay for them, two of the car adaptors, wired to a relay to give them power, taken direct to them rather than the lighter socket connectors, in their own box with better heatsinks, and a fan. It would be to power an Epia board, one or more full sized HDDs, a screen and a USB2 DVD
