Complete speculation, but perhaps you drew too much current through the cigarette lighter wiring and damaged a wiring loom somewhere?
It's usually best to wire inverters to the battery directly since they can draw quite a lot of current.

My ABS light just went off. Here's what happened: I plugged in a power inverter in my cigarette lighter to test some GPS software and it works fine until I see smoke coming out of the exterior front passenger vent, near the windshield wiper. I turn everything off and it smells like urine! Then I turn everything back on again and I'm fine for a few minutes, then my power inverter shuts itself off, my audio system goes out, and the ABS light comes on. I pull over and turn everything off.
Then I try running the sound system off just batteries and it works fine, but when I turn to accessory, I get loud feedback from my subs and nothing works. When I turn on the engine, the system works, but only after getting feedback from the subs. My circuit breaker didn't open and none of my audio fuses were blown. What do you think the problem could be?

Dido.. The Urine smell you smelled was most likely the wires insulation being fried, and you're right it does smell like urine. So in my opinion you should be ok with nothing more than a set of fried wires. You probably fried the 12v lead that powered the cig lighter and melted a few more near by causing the ABS light to come on and maybe a few more things you haven't noticed yet.
Good luck.
Could be worse.
