Your car voltage will go up to 14.4V, thereby breaking the input voltage requirements. This is not very suitable for car use without a regulator on the input. This has been covered many times before.

But with a lm78L12 I can regulate the voltage to 12v. It works to me perfectly. Hasta luego

The 78L12 is a 100mA regulator, which is not enough. In addition it is a linear regulator (and requires the input voltage to be higher than the output by about 2v). Again, this has been covered many times before, I'd recommend you do some reading.

Yes, it does work, provided you dont run any 12 volt accessories. Running a regulator will drop you down to some pretty scary voltages which could give you some equipment problems down the road.. I had this setup just to see how it worked and my biggest complaint was that it will not ride thru starting up your engine, this is a major pain... Not a bad cheap solution, but not perfect..
