So, has anybody contacted Andrei at Ituner and told him about this knock off? I would think he would be grateful to know about it.
Oh man, that soldering job is horrendous. Is that the only component that is replaced? I guess you can just look at which componets have big solder blobs and flux mess and assume they were replaced.Originally Posted by aethernaut
Its amazing he is doing that. Replacing components is not a good way to change the power ratings, you also have to look at the power handling capacity of the copper tracks on the PCB.
You would think he could at least remove the silk screen ITuner markings. Bad news all around.

The funny thing is the motherboards that people are hooking these to don't need 7 amps on the 12 volts. The +3.3 and +5 are the bottle necks, even on a Pentium 4 application. Plus, I wouldn't trust this thing with a pentium 4 VRM in a car.Originally Posted by adamis
You know the stereo recievers that have an outlet on the back of them that is switched with the main power switch? This is like somone saying the 300 watt stereo reciever is 2000 watts because the outlet is rated at 1700 watts and the stereo is rated at 300. FALSE ADVERTISING.
This thing doesn't do anything to the 12 volts, it just lets more of the input go to the output. It doesn't regulate it filter it or anything. Just turns it on or off.

I bet no one has done any thermal testing on this thing at 7 amp draw on the 12 volts. That Mosfet is suppose to be soldered down to a board for heat sinking. Looks like they are relying on it not generating any heat. It is a good thing most people who buy these only drive a 1000 dollar car..

Be careful about this ebay listing!
I just dealt with this guy and he was COMPLETELY rude and unprofessional to me.
I would be VERY wary about his product as well as his customer service...especially after seeing some of the pictures of his "work"...
There are other ITX power solutions out there with higher wattage...my advice is go with those instead and steer clear of this guy...
i'm not afraid of the big bad soldering wolf, i removed the regulator and had a look.
the part number on the reg ic is [B]FU5305.
before you ask i had a quick look, i dont know where he's getting these reg ic's from i cant find a cat no anywhere, could be importing them russia or somewhere......
anyway that's what he's using, so now you can all go ahead and get the pw-70a's and start sticking your own reg ic's in if you can find them..??
and yes he does a messy job at soldering them in, he needs to go back to school..
