    Fuses

I have an inverter with a 40A fuse. While looking for an amp wiring kit, I found one with a 60A fuse on it. Is this ok? What's the general rule to go by when looking at fuses?

    Thats cool!

Hopefully that wiring kit is designed so that the wires can take 60A at 12vdc...It should, so use it and have fun.

The fuse protects something, the one in the inverter keeps the inverter from blowing itself up.

There is also a fuse at the source to keep faults in the wiring from causing a short/electrical fire.

Make sense? One fuse protects the equipment, the other protects the wiring.

Wire your deal direct to the battery, with the fuse RIGHT AT THE BATTERY CONNECTION.

Then hook the inverter to it, and LEAVE THE FUSE IN THE INVERTER ALSO.

you should be ok since your inverter is also fused, buy you can easily change that 60amp to a 40 amp fuse if you want.
