DC-DC relugated 12v power supplky such as opus etc. Invertner as cr@p
I want to power my old computer for use on my car. Which should I use a inverter or a DC PC power supply?
Does anybody have >70 watts DC PC power supply schematic?
There are good and bad for either one.
DC-DC, cost more and efficiency.
Inverter, cheaper, less efficiency and probably create electrical noise.
if you have money, go DC-DC

GET AN OPUS
SAVE YOUR MONEY....BUY AND OPUS
SAVE HEADACHES...THIS WILL SAVE YOU TIME IN YOUR INSTALL
GET AN OPUS....
shhhhh shhhhh PASS IT on!
I second (third?) the motion. Don't be ghetto, just get an opus, your computer will love you for it...after you've run with autostart and autoshutdown for a day or two you'll wonder how you lived without it.Originally Posted by bosstone74
I have an invertor and an opus. Invertor is for my DVD player, opus is for my computer, and I'd never dream of mixing the two.
MP3 MR2 (click here for details)
Hardware: EPIA M10000, 512Meg Ram, 5.6"TFT, Opus 150watt DC-DC PSU
Software: Windows 2000, Media Engine 2.0
I have a DC-AC 300W inverter. When I switch it on, it suck up atleast 3 to 5 volts, then when my computer boots, it sucks up again the same volts. This is the reason why my computer suddenly either restart or shutdown completely. It's a power hungry little monster and not to mention the noise. In the early days of mp3car (now carputer) I don't have much choice, but nowadays DC to DC are getting better n/ better everyday so it's time for me to upgrade.Originally Posted by qdrw82
