    Ok guitar333,

You were right I was just in to much of a hurry.

I was just starting to wonder as I my email asking him how to buy one was sent on Oct 28. My phone calls and fax were about a week ago and no response until today.

The thing is I am only about 70 miles away from Kris. I was thinking about taking a drive down to his business to see if their might be someone there when he called.

Funny thing is search for hours on the internet for a DC-DC power supply and they end up being almost right next door to me.

Who would like to figure to odds?

Ummm, I think it's about time this guy hired some help. If he is getting so many orders that it takes him weeks to fill them, then I'm sure he has enough cash coming in to pay someone minimum wage to answer the damn phone.

And then maybe he would have enough time to notice the missing resistors on his new products before they ruin hundreds of dollars worth of his customers equipment.

Great news I ordered a power supply and should have it about 3 weeks.
3 WEEKS??? He keeps pushing the delivery date out.

Did he send you an order form? If yes, then please email it to me.

    phc,

Actually Kris said 2 weeks I put in another week for shipping, UPS and the Xmas season rush.
    Sorry no order form.
I am buying it through my work so he told me to send him a purchase order instead.

I am pretty sure Opus is a small business and probably would accept something typed up by you as long as it has all the important information. (Shipping / Billing Names /addresses, Qty / description of what you want to purchase and the price).

Try giving Kris a call. I figure he has been out of town for at least a couple of weeks and will probably be playing catch up for awhile.

So what's the justification to work, to buy a dc-dc PSu to power a carPC?

Actually it's not going to power a car PC, well not exactly

It is going to be used to power external hard drives (3.5 inch with a USB adapter) and a USB hub for use with a laptop.

The cost of the power supply more than makes up for the difference in cost between bus powered USB hard drives (2.5 inch) to desktop hard drives.

An 80 gig external laptop drive is about 300.00 while a 300 gig desktop drive is about 280.00

Doing the math laptop drive work out to about 3.75 per gig while a desktop drive work out to 1.65 per gig (including USB adapter and PS) with 2 drive its down to 1.30 per gig.

As for the justification I told work I wanted it and it can be justified as a business expense when used with a laptop. So I get it.

They don't care that it is going to double as a car pc for me.

Trust me they are making out on the deal with all the extra work I do for them.

As for all of the storage work for Graphics files car pc music and say a ripped DVD or 2 or 10 or 100.

I will take some pictures of my set up and show you.

As I am a creature of habbit and I am about to buy my second Opus I thought I'd given him a call... he should have the 90w units in two weeks and told me that yes he had been out of contry for a couple of weeks... in the mean time his email server had screwed up.

Prety fair comment I think.. the guys got to have a holiday... like I have said to so many people before - call him... in fact that goes for a lot of these on-line business's. You never know what you'll learn...

Opus has always seemed too disorganized for my business.
I just remember wanting that 90W supply back in April...when it was promised to have shipped in February.
Opus had a news forum where people were asking every other day when the new 90W was going to be out.
At first, in Feb, there were replies from Opus...but eventually they stopped replying and then the forum finally stopped working.
I gave up waiting on the 90W, and figured I didn't want to buy from a company that disorganized anyway.
The 90W didn't ship until sometime around August, and by that time I had a cheaper and better power solution.

And to top that off, it is now mid-November and their web site STILL has not been updated w/ their 90W PSU, their ITX workstation is still "coming soon", and their forum is still broken!

I agree, Opus does need to find themselves some help.
I would have bought their product if they had just been more forthcoming and responsive (AND REALISTIC) about their products and timeline.

What is this solution? I haven't found a solution that sounds as promising as the Opus one. I want to finish my project within a month and Opus is the bottle neck right now...
