    Power supply

    If I use the:

    http://www.highgreen.nl/products/powersup/powerset.htm

and connect it directly to the car battery then if I understad it right the motherboard wont break as it uses only +5V and +3,3V. But if I connect a harddrive it´s not sure it would survive?

My idea is to just regulate the car battery voltage to my harddrive with a smaller regulator.

    Correct me if I´m wrong.

well people say thats correct but at a cost of £55 for my regulator (custom made by www.powerbox.de) there was no way I was going to take that chance. Boom good bye to £700 :-(

You can get them from www.mini-itx.com for £100 that will even survice a crank.

8v-18v input and protected 12v output. I purchased it from a group buy at www.talkaudio.com in nov 2003 at a great cost of only £55 including postage.

You could talk to blackcat on there and he'd know more as he organised the group buy.

    berty-
thanks 4 the info but talkaudio.com redirects to some random search page. Do you have email contact with this blackcat guy?

More on the unit: how small is it? How many watts/amps and what power supply do you have it feeding?

I'm sure everyone on here would like some pics as you know a good dc-dc solution is hard to come by/buy.....
