    Hooking OPUS to IGN wire?!?

I was planning on just tapping my opus ignition wire into my amps remote start wire. But is the remote start wire on my amp connected to my radio? Because I'm taking out my existing head unit and replacing it with an LCD so I'm hoping I won't have to remote the remote start wire along with it...

In most car stereo setups the remote wire of the amps are ran to the remote wire in the head unit. You can run it to some kind of switch though. When I remove my head unit I plan to run the remote wires into one of those shifter knobs with the switches on it.

What can you do is use an automotive relay that is tapped into something like your clock or something that is only on when your car is on.

Use the tapped clock wire as the switch for the relay and get your 12v line from the wire that would have powered your head unit. Then run the output from the relay to the ignition wire of the opus. This way your carputer will be on only when your clock is on which i assume is only when your car is on.

For using the ignition wire just make sure that the ouput on that is 12v. Also im not completely sure how the ignition wire works but i assume its sending a constant 12v which is all you need for the relay switch. Some easy testing can be done with a multimeter to make sure everything will work.
