    DC to DC converter

    Im new to this and wanted to know what people thought about this DC to DC converter offered at this site http://www.powerstream.com/Produz10.htm

    then select DC to DC converters form the menu on the left
    then scroll down adn select 12v to 12v regulating DC to DC converters

    I want to use a Asus P4 SOCKET478 I865PE processor with cooling options .. any ideas how much power im going to need? plus power for the LCD DVD and keyboard..etc

    also if anyone here drives cavalier or any jbody itd be cool to get sum info on how you did your set ups i have 98 Z24

    Any P4 based system will have quite heavy power requirements. A stable ATX 12V rail will also be important as the CPU regulation circuit is running off that.

    Those regulators look quite nice.., but it does say that they're boost converters. Afaik, if you connect up a boost controller with 13.8V in and select 13.8V out, it won't run in boost mode and it'll act like a big diode: there'll be some voltage drop on the output.

    That's something that you'll need to ask about or test for yourself..

    I see answer his questions even though I posted about it 1st

    That's what I thought but the input is 10~15v and judging by the size of it I don't think its just a simple boost regulator in there.

    If it was a flyback the efficiency wouldn't be that high...

    It is a 15A/20A design (not like the 5A ones that Maxim [ like the one in sproggy ] and National have); it would need an enclosure that big to dissipate the heat from the diodes...

    Minimum order 10 pieces >_< damn
