    Wiring Opus directly to battery, please help!

    Hello everyone, i have a 150 watt Opus psu and was curious how i should go about wiring it directly to the battery? Do i need to put any type of fuses or line filters between it and the battery, if so what kind? Also when the car is running the battery is above 12v. Do i need something to regulate that and if so, what? Thanks for any help in advance!

    A fuse in the + wire is essential. Imagine what would happen if you short that wire to ground and your battery tries to put 800 amps through it! Very hot wire before it burns out; melted, possibly burning insulation; maybe burn your car up - not what you want to happen. Some put fuses in the - wire as well. Check the Opus specs on their web page for the answer to the voltage question.

    The fuse on the positive wire should be within one foot of the battery. DO NOT put a fuse on the ground. That is all that is needed, the Opus needs no additional regulator.

    Your OPUS is already fused internally. You can see it through the chassis.

    You're still going to want a fuse on that power wire, in case of a short before the Opus.

    15 amps should be fine.

    In my setups I run a AGU fuse or about 80 amps right by the battery.
    4-8 gauge goes through the firewall down one side channel of the car and then to the trunk area where it goes into a fused distributer block.
    From the distro block, I have a 20 amp fuse with a 12 gauge wire going to the PS and a 60 amp fuse with a 10 gauge going to my sub amp.
    They both get grounded with a non-fused distro block.

    Distro blocks make the install alot simpler and allow a easy way to step down in wire gauge. You don't really need a 4 guage run going into your OPUS. So 12 will be fine, but run nice thick gauge to the rear fused distro so you can add a 1000 watt sub etc...

    And always have a fuse by the battery in case the wire does short for some reason. Very dangerous.

    You have 10 gauge wire for your sub?? If you get 60 amps going down that mate its going to get really really hot! 4 gauge should be on that

    I think its 8 gauge and 10 going to the carpc. Sorry. It's all tested, nothing gets hot.

    PLus 60 amps is not going down it. Thats teh fuse at the distro block. The two fuses are 25 ont he amp. So it's proabbly drawwing like 40 amps at full bump.

    Yeah, I just looked.
    In my car I have 8 gauge going all the way to the rear to the distro, and then 8 going to the amp, and 12 gauge going to the pc.

    I think 4 gauge which I ran in my friends Jetta is overkill.
