    How to know what size inverter to use?

    Ok I figure im gonna do the 1st CarPC cheap as I can to learn aboout problems then upgrade later. I bought the Syntax S635MP(tiger Direct $5 after rebate) Ill deal with them if there are problems with getting my rebate. Gonna run 120G western digitel 7200 HDD, P2 Mouse and no Keyboard. USB GPS, PCI Vid CArd (not sure which one yet), Onboard sound and Lan. half GIG DDR ram. Im gonna run it through my Pioneer TV Head unit I know butu its already paid for) and sound system. Im gonna need @ least a 300w PS but will prob go ahead and get a 6oow PS. OH I figure about 6 USB devices just to be on the safe side for add ons.

    Will a 300/750w inverter run a 600w PS is it over kill or under kill or I just lost my mind altogether?

    Thanx

    I'm going to be running pretty much the same setup, same tigerdirect mainboard but only a 60GB 7200rpm drive and also no pci video (I'm using the onboard video). I'll also probably have 4 USB devices and I'm only using a 160watt Jensen inverter. I think the 300watt PS and 300watt inverter will do you fine.

    You can take a look at the original power supply of the computer.
    There is a table with current's printed on the top.

    U=IxR

    If you'r power supply can give 15A on the 5V circuit, do 15x5.
    15A on the 12V circit: 15x12
    Go on like this for the -5 and -12 (don't use the - in you'r calculation )
    You have to (this is HARD in english...) do it + you know.
    Now you have the total power in W at the secundair site of the power supply, and luccily this is allways the same at the primair site.

    I hope you can do something with my blury tale...
