    wierd power problem (opus or m10000 prob)

    I have an opus 90W powering a M10000. Over the last week, it has been randomly deciding to power up or not power up when i start the car.
    Today it wouldn't power up at all - in fact the green status LED was not even blinking. So i checked all wiring, fuses and voltages to find nothing out of the ordinary. I repeatedly unpluged the opus input power cable to attempt to check things and diagnose the problem, but it didn't help.

    It wasn't until i unplugged the ATX power cable from the mobo that something must have got "reset" and when it was all plugged back in, it worked - the PC came out of hibernation at the same spot it left off.

    I wonder if it was an opus thing or a m10000 problem? I hope it will continue to work now

    mobo thing
    or maybe a short some where
    make sure no bare wires are floating around
    or that theres nothing closing a circut

    actually turned out to be neither...My main battery fuse (which the opus sources power through) was acting VERY strange. On visual inspection, it was not blown, but anytime any significant amount of current was trying to flow through it, it would act as an open circuit. When the current level dropped, it would be almost like a closed circuit (lke a good fuse should be). Switching on the carPC made it go open circuit....I've never seen a device act in such a non-Ohmic way like this before - made it very hard to diagnose the problem. Must have had a dry/weak solder joint between the fuse wire and the end cap that made it impossible to see it was blown.

    The solution was easy though - just replace the fuse!

    Bump.

    I seem to be getting the same problem at the moment. My Opus completely shut off last night and won't come back on... no blinking LED or anything. It possibly has something to do with the fact that I dropped the power lead for my Lilliput (powered from the Opus) onto the top of my stereo accidentally when I was fiddling with the screen.. it had a bit of a sparking fit :O Everything seemed to be working perfectly for about 10 minutes, though, when the thing just went off never to come on again

    Have tried disconnecting the plug on the Opus, but I'll try disconnecting the ATX plug this evening to see if that helps. Better check all the fuses too

    Sorted. My ground wire had managed to come loose.. I've re-soldered it nice and firmly! Panic over
