    Trouble with ITPS...How to Test...

I have my ITPS and PW70a all hooked up to my motherboard and tried testing it by connecting the ground from the ITPS to the negative terminal on my battery, adn the ignition and power wires to my positive terminal on my battery, but I get nothing. Can I connect the power supply's black and white wires directly to the battery to test if the PW70 is working?

first take the PW-70 out of the pictures... stick a voltmeter on the outputs of the ITPS (no pw-70), clamp the ground and power to a battery (easier to use a dry cell inside) and the touch the ignition to 12v and watch the output.

if you get nothing something could be wrong with the itps.

You could connect the PW-70 straight to the battery without harming it but you'd have to short one of the pins to ground so the power supply turns on and starts supplying power (i forget which one ... do a google for ATX pinout). if the PS doesn't think it's 'on' ... you won't get anything on the pins.

Wouldn't the power button on the motherboard (if I put one on) turn on the pw70 and mboard?
Forgive my ignorance, but when you say 'touch the ignition to 12v' you mean an accessory, or will touching it to the positive battery terminal work? Thaks for the help...

If everything is working properly, then yes, the powerbutton on the mobo would turn on the pw70.

when i say touch the ignition to 12v i mean touch the 'ignition' wire on the itps to the positive terminal of the battery. I'm saying to get constant power to the itps by connecting the + and - wires to the battery, and then touch the ignition wire on the itps to the positive terminal to simulate the car being turned on. The itps should then start supplying power to the output in a few seconds.
