Overriding the shutdown feature of the ITPS

I have continues 13.20v power from a second battery in the car no matter if i crank the car or not. So my question is, can i still use the ITPS without the shutdown feature since i dont need it ? How do i do this. ?

I have tried to search the forum about this but couldnt find anything that answered my question..

    Thanks very much..

    Regards

Sure, just tie the accessory wire directly to your battery. I've got the same setup. THe problem is, with the car off, the second battery will quickly drop to around 12.6V or lower. The ITP will then drop that voltage even further to around 11V or less.

If you do that, you turn a $35 shutdown controller into the equivalent of $2 voltage regulator. But yeah, it will work.

And, since I'm running windows, it has it's own shutdown (and wakeup!) controller

And that can't my motherboard handle ?

So what do I need to get a computer up and running the whole time in a car ?
While car not running, while cranking, while car running.. NO stupid shutdown. heheh

    Thanks for your answer.

You need an Opus, but why do you want your computer running all the time like that?

if you always have your computer running, and you leave the car there for 2 days, you'll be happy to find that you drained your battery and need to be boosted...

but mainly the usage of the ITPS is to turn the computer on when you use the car, and off when you stops the car... since you then leave the car and don't use the computer anymore

I dont want my computer running 24/7 but it would be nice to be able to use the computer while the car is not running.

Just to give an example: Your girlfriend is shopping and you are sitting in the car and waiting for her. Dont you wanna be able to listen to music or play around with the computer instead of just drum fingers ? And you can't keep you engine running when your car is parked. You get a ticket for that here in Norway. Stupid example, I know..

What if you where filling gass, and your mates or girlfriend would like to listen to music or plan a better route to your destination on your GPS system while you fill and pay? Another stupud example .. But there is heaps of scenarios where you want to have the computer on when the engine is turned off.

I probably wont use it often but I would like to have the option to be able to use the computer while the engine is not running.

EDIT: I found a very good reason for having your computer running while the engine is turned off ..hehe ..

Okay.. You parked your car outside your house but left you computer on becuase you want to upload some new movies or MP3's to your carputer.

You remotly connect trough your wireless system with SSH or with remote desktop if you are using Winblows XP. Do your business and remotly shut down the computer from you desktop computer in your house. You dont have to go outside again to stop the car..

Instead of leave your car running, polut the environment, go outside to stop the car etc.. a lot of work for a lazy bastard like myself.

Sorry for my bad English folks ...

My Firebird allows the accessories - including the radio, speakers, subwoofer, etc - to all run without the keys even being in the ignition, that is until the door is opened. Perhaps you should look into something like that. Also, the computer shouldn't shut off if you have your key turned on the ACC position on the ignition.
