opus 150, how long will it run on battery

i know the opus wont kill your battery. but how long can it power a computer befor it turns off.

also running the amp of the battery too. would it be better hooking up a 2nd battery?

Of course, it would be better to get a second, deep discharge, battery. A regular car battery is not intended for long discharges, but rather providing a very high current for a short period of time, such as cranking.
Opus will power down once the input voltage drops down to ~11V for more than 10 seconds.
My computer with all of the accessories runs for about 1hr prior to shut-down on my spare 1/2 battery intended for UPS (it is small and was cheap). If I would leave my car battery connected, I estimate the discharge time to go up 3-4 times, maybe even more.
Eventually, I may get Optima Yellow Top to power my PC.

Opus is very eficient , you should be able to Run the computer for a couple of hours , for precaution turn on the engine for 5m for every 35m with the car off.

ok. so i think i will use a 2nd batter to power it.. maybe also power the car amp well running with out the car on.. maybe not..

but do thay make deep chargeing gell cell / acid batter's .. b/c i know a car batter is a lot better then a dry cell one

Get yourself something like an Ultima Yellowtop/Redtop

They're deep cycle batteries, which means they can be ran down without killing themselves

ok.. but the opus wont run them all the way down. will stop at 11V or can i make the opus kill the battery

I have a truly crappy battery, in a nissan sunny and my record so far is 6 hours of carpc and still able to start engine - it's less of a problem than you think...

Yes, you can, if your system is set to auto-start when the power is applied, which shouldn't be if you're using Opus' built in controller.

im thinking now that i might use 3 6v dry cell batterys in series. witch will add up to 18v DC. then the opus can drain them down to 11v... my alt should be able to charg them black up to 18 or close enuf i think..
