Like you have the power blocks for laptops. Same idea.
Hello,
Wondering what the best way to power a DC-DC powered car pc is when its not in the car? Do you unhook everything, and then use a AC-DC PS inside the home? Or is their a better way to handle this, maybe with AC-DC converter?
Thanks,
Mark

Currently I have inverter setup in the car, but soon to be replace with sproggy DC-DC PSU. My Mastero/Sproggy 3.0 can't handle the hardrive. Once I have DC-DC PSU, I just use AC-DC PSU inside the house. It's not that complicated and only 2 connections to plug and unplug.

well you only really need to unplug the atx connector and hard drive.. and parhaps a cd/dvd/cdr whatever drive if you have it. so a normal atx supply should be quite the best route to go
If you are using an Opus, you chould just disconnect the ATX P1 connector from the Opus then put a gender changer on you AC-DC power supply, then hook up your AC-DC with gender changer to the ATX P1. That way you only need to unhook the one power plug.

What about an AC-to-DC converter like this: http://www.tripplite.com/products/in...ed_dcpower.cfm
Would these get the job done to run an Opus supply? How many amps does the Opus need to run?
Uh, well... power = voltage x current... so 90watts / 12 volts = 7.5 amps. It's not so hard to just swap out the power supply though.
For 150W Opus:
AC to DC Supply
120V Input
12~15 Output
10~12.5 Amps
Right?

While my box is not in the car, I use the AC-DC power adapter that came with the case (morex cubid 2677R) which provides +12V DC:
I replaced the existing female power plug and wiring with a new plug wired to the Opus. I then added another female power plug for the remote turn-on signal. I added an SPST switch with a diode to override the remote turn-on signal. When I bring the box inside, I simply connect it to the AC-DC power adapter and flip the switch.
