random, rarely occuring shut-down problem (using opus 150w)

being that my boot time sucks right now (very close to 2 minutes), i've encountered a strange, not too serious, but annoying problem with the opus:

if i drive somewhere close enough that i get there before the system is fully booted, and turn off the car, the computer does not shut down like it is supposed to..

further, if i then turn the car back on [PC is on the whole time], reboot the PC, and then turn the car off, after the 10-second timer expires the power is cut without the system actually shutting down properly.

using XP.. and it works fine otherwise, i.e. i shut the car off while the system is fully booted/in media engine/etc etc etc

i plan on cutting down the boot time in the not-so-distant future, and don't drive such short distances often, so its not a huge deal, but something i'm curious about.

My solution to this problem, even though my boot time is less than 30 seconds, (sometimes you just want to move your car) is going to be an SPDT center off switch.

One postion on the switch will disconnect the Opus' RMS line and keep the machine off, another position will connect the Opus' RMS to the constant 12v+ line and keep my machine on when I turn off the car and take out the key. The third position will just connect the Opus' RMS to the switched 12v+ in the car.

not bad at all, i'll look into it. doesn't seem to be too difficult a solution either.

except it still involves me going into the trunk

Iíve been in contact with OPUS Solutions about this issue. Future versions of the power supplies will have some sort of a minimum on time built into them. That way the operating system will have enough time to boot so the shutdown command can be properly handled.

good deal, that'll be useful .. isn't there some sort of deep-discharge protection on the opus currently? how does that work?

It shuts everything off at when the battery drops to 10.9 volts (after waiting for 10 seconds, so it won't shutdown during an engine crank).

On a Opus 90w with the factory installed jumper inplace worked perfectly without your described problem. If i shut of the car before it booted up as soon as it got to windows it would immidiatly begin the shutdown problem. After i removed the factory installed jumper (leave standby power on) it wont even shut the powersupply off at all
