    PSU plug ground question

So I opened up my PSU as I will be putting it in a small custom case. I notice that the ground prong on the plug (where you plug the cord in from the wall) just has a small wire screwed to the metal case of the PSU. Since I'm removing the case and putting this thing in an acrylic case, can I just ignore that grounding prong when wiring it to my DC to AC inverter? Or should I ground it to the car frame or something?
