    Cool Dashwerks shutdown controller

This looks kind of interesting. I like the LED leads it provides. Functionally, how different is this from the ITPS?

Yes it is big for what it can do...im sure they can use SMD. The power relay is probably much better put off-board so then user can place it closer to the PSU/AMP and battery.

I didnt like idea of loosing a com port and having to install a software for it. I wonder if it still possible to get the PC out of sync with the ignition key.

If you're going to use a serial port, why not just pull 5V from the power supply and relay it with the ignition to pin 8 of the serial port? If you setup Windows with a UPS, it'll automatically shut down.

Software and drivers are NOT required for the DSSC

Software drivers are only required if you want to use the serial port shutdown feature of the DSSC. If you don't use any software, it will work with any ACPI enabled motherboard (P4) included. You simply connect the ACPI/power switch header of your motherboard to this circuit and it will turn your motherboard on and off with your car. It will also turn off the main power to your carpc by using an offboard Relay (not pictured).

Details about it can be found here. Click on the DSSC Startup/Shutdown link.

    Best regards,
    CB

    is it still on pre-orders?

Lot of modders would be interested in this device, if they could actually get it.

The uSDC20D is a more compact solution, and you can buy it on this website. And it has a temperature sensor, and it probably draws less current in the off state, and it was designed by me :-)

The uSDC20D will power a P4 if your using an inverter. It is really the only way to go if you want to use a power hog computer in your car and still save your battery when it is off for a while
