    How Many Watts?

How many watts do you think I need to run an Epia- M10000 (Nehim-whatever core) a mini DVD-drive, a 76gb 7200rpm 3.5in drive and a Sb live 5.1 sound card. Thanks. My case has a 65watt powersupply and I think that is not as much as I need.

The M10000 board is rated at 24W under load (this includes the CPU). 512MB PC2700 is going to use anywhere from 5-15W under load. Slimline DVD-ROM runs 5-10W under load. Typical 7200RPM desktop hdd runs anywhere from 5-15W under load. All USB devices can have a maximum of 2.5W under load. I assume the screen will be powered by the car's battery, and not the PSU. So at most, the total is (m/b+cpu)24W+(RAM)15W+(DVD-ROM)10W+(hdd)15W+(usb device:griffin)2.5W = 66.5W. And this is at MAXIMUM values, not including the SB, as I don't know if it's internal or external - but figure 10W max internal, and obviously 2.5W for external, but it would still need the external power adapter. Any extra usb device would be 2.5W.

My guess is that it will NOT be sufficient.

If that's all you're running, 70 watts should be fine (at least 60 watts continuous).
If at first you don't succeed, so much for skydiving!

I guess I'm just precautious... I would be hesitant because IN THEORY it should not be sufficient, but that's dealing with theoretical MAXIMUMS.

(And I always drive the speed limit and cook meat all the way through.) =) LOL

Honestly, it's easiest just to look up the devices in the manuals or online and add it all up. I figure it's better to be safe than sorry.

Because you know, when you're searching for a gps signal while playing mp3s and a divx file while ripping a rented dvd as you're playing MAME and all of your devices hit maximum and the psu goes up in flames...don't come crying to me... lol...
