    No more 5v on PW70A

    Help I broke it

My PW70A 5v rail no longer puts out 5v, it only puts out .83V, the 3.3 and 12v are all as they should be, what can I replace / upgrade to get my 5v back again, I am pretty handy with a multimeter and a soldering iron, but I havent a clue what has blown, I am thinking its an IC somewhere and what could I upgrade to, to prevent this happening again ?

    Help

Thanks for the great info on my other issues in the other forums

Maybe check the 78L05 chip. I believe that is a 5v regulator. I Just put a volt meter on mine and pin1 is at 5v when powered up.

Just out of curiosity, Are you running the PW-70a without 12v regulation at all? I'm thinking of adding 12v regulation to pw-70a (similar to vvogs morex mod.) but to do it I would have to feed it mostly unregulated power. Just looking at the specs on all the chips now to see if it is feasible.
If yours died being unregulated than I may have to re-think...

    Regards

Sorry for the delay in replying, been out of town, I will check the pin 1, I feed my PW70A with an ITPS, first the ITPS was regulating the 12v, then I did the bypass to remove 12v regulation as I was not getting enough power to spin up my desktop hdd that needs the 12v, even this didnt work as the drive wont spin up till it gets 12v (best i could get to the drive was 11.89) I changed to a laptop hdd and then I think i had too many 5v devices on the power supply so it burnt out the PW70A.......or I shorted something out....
