its a little blury but i think you can see the com port is the two outer ones and the ground is in the center.
Thanks
Do you think its posible i fryed the relay???
Non of the comport pin should be grounded. All you really need to do is "SHORT" the pin 4 and 8 of the comport with the relay switch.
You should have something like :
Relay coil > Car +12V ACC
Relay coil > Car ground
Relay switch > Comport pin 4
Relay switch > Comport pin 8
1) Check with a meter if the relay does close its switch when you apply the +12V ACC into its coil.
2) Check if the PC does shutdown when you short pin 4 and pin 8 of the comport.
3) Once you verify they both work then you can put them together.
Check the datasheet if you are unsure which pin is what, both on the relay and the comport.
thats what i have its hard to tell in the pic thugh, the pc does shut down if i short it, the problem has to be in the relay. i dont have a meter is their a diferent way i can test this? i bught 2 relays that day so i gues i can try the other one.
do you think its possible i got a dud or blew it?
I love the program but am having some serious problems. First off every time the computer returns from shutdown shutdown controller crashes. I get a standard type .net error saying "the file specified could not be found." the details talk something about the startinfo process. I'm running xp and have updated to sp2 and installed all .net versions and updates with no improvement. In addition, when the menu pops up asking when i want to shutdown the buttons are all messed up and missaligned with the text.
Anyway, any ideas would be appreciated, thanks.

hey, is it possible to do this with the joystick port?
Well I figured out what was causing the crash. Its interference from the widcomm bluetooth drivers. Not sure what you can really do to fix this but please let me know if you think of anything. As for the messed up shutdown box, my guess is its a result of my changing the default button and text sizes in windows appearance. Perhaps if you used just a standard form it would not be suseptable to this error. Anyway, thanks again for your great program.
