I just adapted that SDC software to make a windows XP computer hibernate rather than shut down. It was made really quickly for only my specific niche, but it works nice. Note that it thinks minutes are only ten seconds long

I plan on adapting this to a relay system that powers the inverter while either the car is on (1 relay) or the computer is on (another relay).

    Code:
--- relay for car being on----
    + ---/ \----- inverter
            \--- relay for computer on---/
so the inverter is on while the computer shuts down.

Sorry if i copied anybodys ideas on here, i cant remember what ideas i copied off of the forum and what ones i made myself

thats an awesome first post... all n00bs take note!

gonna have a play now, will report back.

{EDIT} Works Great! None of the issues I had after resuming a hibernation like I had with the com port based one either. Thanks Heaps Bud!

I have some problems with this software. It sometimes leaves screen blank and doesn't hibernate computer. Program sometimes also doesn't start when computer resumes from hibernate. I can't trust that computer hibernates itself automatically
