Thats unfortunate, it has never failed for me.

Id fix it but im lazy and besides I think the smarter thing to do is figure out how to simulate a UPS (by providing your 5v from the computer power supply to a serial port which is activated through a relay) and when the computer turns off have the windows XP ups management software hibernate for you.

thought id dig up this ultra old thread with an update, finally got around to making a serial version.

this one works with both serial and parallel, your choice. ive only tested it on 2 pc's, but it works on both of them, so thats a start. yet to test in the car, tomorrow if i get time.

    ok, heres the files

    http://lowagz.sytes.net/carpc/SDC_lpt_rs232.rar

and port95nt, which is usually needed

    http://lowagz.sytes.net/carpc/port95nt.exe

im hosting from home now, so downloads might be a tad slow, but the main SDC file is tiny anyway and one can find port95nt all over the net.

hopefully this is useful for someone other than me!!

Yes, I also cant trust this program to hibernate automatically. Now that I am using Centrafuse, doing a cold boot each time is not feasible. This program works fine to automate a shutdown, but not hibernation. Ive noticed that on two separate computers (Ive tried different versions of XP also), using this program after hibernation does not work. I always get some .net error. Even the newest version of the program did not fix this issue. Has anyone managed to get this program working for hibernation?

newest version has hibernate totally disabled, but PURDooM's code is still in the source for it.

i dont need hibernate, so i didnt bother setting it up. all it would take is someone who can dabble in visual basic and find code to properly hibernate the pc using vb.

    OptimusPrime, glad i could help
